![]() ![]() ![]() The story crosses continents, countries and dynasties and Rushdie’s concocted fables never cease to surprise and amuse. Rushdie says The Enchantress of Florence has been his ‘most researched book.’ The claim must not be denied because it certainly read like an ambitious project. From the beginning until the very end, the book keeps you interested. The Enchantress of Florence, however, is an exception. And this primarily has been my complaint with the works of Salman Rushdie – his beginnings make promises which his ends break. He stretches imagination to that brittle point where its susceptibility to snapping becomes quite high. Salman Rushdie builds magnanimous structures. ![]()
